Roy Smith Jr. has been the Director of Quality and Production Operations for Theotis since 2004. Prior to joining Theotis, Roy held positions with DaimlerChrysler, Budd, American Axle Manufacturing, Visteon, and Barnes Group.
Since joining Theotis, Roy has helped implement and maintain our ISO 9001-2000 program, worked to implement lean manufacturing principles throughout the organization, and has had responsibility for daily plant operations. In addition to his production and quality expertise, Roy has significant human resources and labor relations experience as well. In a human resource/labor relations role, he has negotiated union contracts for American Axle Manufacturing and Visteon, administered affirmative action programs for Barnes Group, and developed and coordinated training activities for hourly and salaried staff.
Roy earned a Master of Arts in Labor Relations and Human Resources from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tuskegee University, which he attended on a full football scholarship.
